The CARE Project Virtual Learning Experience

This event will bring together the professionals who provide services for families with children who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing to examine the emotional journey of those families and the emotional impact it has on professionals over time.  The overall purpose is to bring about a deeper understanding of the emotional journey that begins for these families after receiving an unexpected diagnosis and how it continues over the lifespan.  Professionals will gain a deeper sensitivity of the emotional journey and how to change their own culture of communication from a medical/clinical/educational perspective.

Friday's session is geared toward professionals who work with Deaf and Hard of Hearing children.

​

Saturday's session will be for both professionals and families who have a Deaf/HH child.

Learning Objectives:

After this course, participants will be able to

1. Identify emotional journey milestones for parents with children who are deaf and hard of hearing
2. Develop strategies for coping with grief related to having a child with hearing loss
3. Identify resources in communities that assist families in navigating systems for their children’s success
